PURPOSE: A PBX(Private Branch eXchange) having a voice message notification function and a notification method are provided to rapidly cope with a caller's urgent call by immediately notifying a called subscriber of what a message has been left due to the called subscriber's absence. CONSTITUTION: A PBX(10) having a voice message notification function(10) is composed of a DTC(Digital Trunk Circuit)(10e), an SLC(Subscribe Line Circuit)(10b), an RMFC(R2 Multi Frequency Circuit)(10c), and an SCM(System Control Module)(10d). The DTC(10e) uses an E1/R2(6) as a digital interface to cover a destination detection function, a loop seizure function, etc. The SLC(10b), connected with an interphone(4), controls a matter for the termination of a subscriber. The RMFC(10c) is in charge of R2 signal processing and DTMF signal processing. The SCM(10d) controls the whole system of the PBX(10).
