A scanning device (150) has a radiation source, specifically a laser radiation source (152), a column-line deflection unit (156) and a modulation unit for modulating the scanning beam (158) according to the received image signal (172). At least one additional beam source (154) is provided for generating an additional scanning beam (160) which is directed at an angle (W1) different to the that of the other scanning beam, on to the line- and/or column deflection unit (156). The modulation unit also modulates the additional scanning beam (160) according to the received image signal, so that the scanned surface generates a further raster image.
