PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To save toner, while maintaining the quality of a printed image. SOLUTION: In this image-forming device such as a printing device, only an edge part (outline) is extracted from inputted bit-map shaped image data, and the other pixel data are thinned, so that the consumption of printing toner or ink can be suppressed. In this case, the position of a reference pixel for the thinning processing is set arbitrarily, corresponding to a pixel to be corrected, and the position of the reference pixel is reset, while the quality of a printed image corresponding to the set reference pixel is monitored.
