PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital image display device and a digital image display method which is capable of a high quality gradation representation while properly providing gradation of luminance over a temperature range normally usable. SOLUTION: A pixel data has plural gradation representation bit for the gradation representation of the luminance of the pixel 25a with each bit being weighted and a gradation range control bit for the gradation range of the luminance of pixel 25a with the gradation representation by plural bit of the gradation representation bit, and the control means 11 controls so that a drive duration of the optical space modulator 7 conforming with the gradation representation bit B2 and others and the gradation range control bit B1, B0 can be longer than a projected light emission time of pixel 25a originally assigned to gradation representation range control bit B2 and others and gradation range control bit B1, B0 respectively.
