An organic waste processing method which does not lead to spoilage of organic wastes or generation of maggots, which suppresses or prevents processing time lag and increase in running costs, and which is easy to put to industrial use; and a device therefor. The device comprises an approximately inverted frusto-conical processing tank (3) for hermetically storing an organic waste (2), such as garbage, having aerobic microorganism (1) added thereto, a motor (17) installed below the processing tank (3), a rotary shaft (19) supportably extending vertically through the processing tank (3) and driven for rotation by the motor (17), and a plurality of agitating vanes (21) attached to the rotary shaft (19) for mixing the aerobic microorganisms (1) and the organic waste (2). And when the fermentation temperature for the organic waste (2) is to be raised, the rpm of the motor (17) is increased, while when it is to be lowered, the rpm of the motor (17) is lowered. The organic waste (2) is not heated externally by a heater; rather, it is allowed to heat itself, and the fermentation temperature for the organic waste (2) is controlled by the rpm of the motor (17), so that processing time lag or increase in running costs can be suppressed or prevented. |
