The headlamp (40) has a screen (50) that swings upright for low beam operation. The screen is between the reflector (20) and the front lens of the headlamp. The screen is operated by an electromagnet (60) which moves a rod (61) parallel to the optical axis. The rod ends in a block (66) with an elongated slot for the end of a crank (54) at the end of the shaft supporting the screen.
