PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for judging similarity of a music melody permitting to obtain a result in accordance with actual feeling and a reasonable and multilateral judgment by using a comparison method to which a hearing characteristic peculiar to a human being is applied, in the case of judging similarity between arbitrary two melodies, that has been difficult on conventional score information. SOLUTION: Similarity between two arbitrary melodies is judged only concerning melody information by comparing them with each other in three elements of tone row, musical interval time (hearing tone length), and vocalization point using a memory reverberation effect being a hearing characteristic peculiar to a human being. Each matching rate of the three elements for comparison (tone row, musical interval time, vocalization point) is summed in each judgment unit. Further, a similarity rates (a compreheusive evaluation index of the three elements for comparison) obtained by converting each matching rate of the three elements for comparison into percentages according to similarity influence degrees and summing them up is obtained in each judgment unit of bar, motif, phrase, and the whole.
