PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carrier and an imaging apparatus in which optimal tight contact state can be set at all times for various types of sheet while preventing contamination of a sheet material and damage on a recording head. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus comprises upper and lower rollers 4, 5 for carrying sheets S1, S2, a platen 10 for supporting the sheets S1, S2 carried by the upper and lower rollers 4, 5, a suction fan 19 for bringing the sheets S1, S2 into tight contact with the platen 10, and a CPU for controlling suction force of the suction fan 19 depending on the type of the sheets S1, S2.
