The transponder system forms part of an arrangement which is designed to react in a flexible way to unforeseen events such as accidents, blockages, changes in the manufacturing requirements etc and has transponders installed at prescribed points for identification of the material transporting vehicles or for the storage of information left at/on following material transporting vehicles etc. At least one transporting vehicle has at least one read-device or at least one write-read device for writing to, or reading from, the transponders.
