PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the reliability when mechanically and quickly connecting a fail safe operating member to a steering gear, to improve the degree of freedom in arrangement, and to lower the cost while simplifying the structure in a steering device for a vehicle for changing the steering angle without mechanically connecting the operating member to the steering gear. SOLUTION: One end of a flexible cylindrical outer cable 53 is connected to an operating member 1 so as to be concentrically rotated with the operating member 1, and one end of a flexible inner cable 54 to be inserted into the outer cable 53 is connected to a holding member 51 rocked by holding with the operating member 1. A driving part 55 connected to the other end of the outer cable 53 freely to be rotated with the outer cable and a driven part 56 connected to the other end of the inner cable 54 freely to be moved in the longitudinal direction of the inner cable with the inner cable are pushed to each other by the relative movement of the inner cable 54 to the outer cable 53 in the longitudinal direction based on the holding force so as to transmit the rotation thereof, and separated from each other when the holding force is released. A steering gear 3 transmits the rotation of the driven part 56 to wheels 4 so as to change the steering angle. |
