PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for remotely diagnosing image output device, with which the generation cause of a defective image is exactly specified, the appropriate instruction of treatment can be obtained and the appropriate treatment can be applied speedily in an image output device, for obtaining image data from an image recording medium as input image data and acquiring output image data or output image by applying prescribed image processing to these input image data. SOLUTION: At least one of input image data, output image data or image data of the output image and processed image data, to which desired image processing is applied, and at least one of image-processing configuration information in the case of obtaining the output image data or output image form the input image, managing information of the image output device and error information of the image output device are transferred to a remote diagnostic device connected by a communication line, and these transferred image data and transferred information are used to perform the remote diagnosis.
