PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet retaining mechanism in printer in which print performance can be enhanced by prevented a supplied sheet surely from deflecting vertically in the vicinity of a print range while simplifying the structure extremely and reducing the cost. SOLUTION: In a printer where a supplied sheet P is fed by means of sheet feed rollers 1, 2 and printed, on the surface thereof, by means of an ink cartridge 4 set in a cartridge fixing case 3 moving to the left and right before being discharged by means of sheet discharge rollers 5, 6, a sheet retaining guide piece 7 projecting vertically downward is provided at a lower part of the cartridge fixing case 3 or the ink cartridge 4 in order to prevent the supplied sheet P from deflecting vertically in the vicinity of a print range.
