PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorescent display unit that can focus an electron beam using a simple structure, give a sharp-edged display and improve the emission brightness. SOLUTION: This fluorescent display unit consists of a fluorescent face 104, an anode structure 105, and a cathode structure 106 that is equipped with a rear electrode 106b, a filament cathode 106c and a grid housing 106d covering these. An opening 106f is provided at the portion of the grid housing 106d facing the filament cathode 106c, and a meshwork grid 106e electrically connected to the grid housing 106d is installed between the opening 106f and the filament cathode 106c.
