Gas generator produces a fuel gas continuously, by incomplete combustion of solids with air. In the new unit, a rotating tube (1) is divided internally into at least three zones (4,5,6). In its reduced ends (7), fixed closures (8, 9) seal it from the surrounding atmosphere. The feedstock (12) is supplied through one closure (8); the end product is at least partially removed through the other (9). The material makes its way along the tube, which has a rotary drive (10, 11). Also claimed is the method of operation, in which the combustion air to be supplied to the generator is used to cool the gases produced. |
