PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital signal processing method capable of performing decoding operation utilizing a PR system without arranging a pre-coder in the preceding stage of a recording and reproducing system or a transmission system and performing the decoding operation while limiting the propagation of errors. SOLUTION: Signals that digital signals are processed by the frequency characteristics of (1+D; D is the output signal of a delay operator) are converted into the ternary or more conversion signals of O and a significant number provided with positive and negative polarities, the conversion signals are processed by the frequency characteristics of 1/(1+D) and the error of the polarity inversion of the conversion signals is detected.
