INTERPOLATION METHOD AND APPARATUS

PURPOSE: An interpolation method and apparatus is provided to combine a linear interpolation function and a divided mixing function with a high degree. CONSTITUTION: A pixel sequence generator(310) and a weight controller(350) are connected to a mathematical operator(340). The pixel sequence generator(310) receives pixel data with an input array data type and generates the sequence of pixels according to an output of a device(300). The pixel sequence generator(310) includes a memory resource from storing input arrays of the pixels. The device(300) performs an interpolation to pixel values having a coordinate between the first coordinates of the first pixel and the second pixel. A fraction generator(320) provides an increment length based on an expansion factor for expanding an output phase to an input phase. The fraction generator(320) uses a size of an output array and information from an input array for determining a new pixel to the output array of the pixel. The weight controller(350) generates a mixing function which provides a weight value to a basic function. The weight controller(350) receives an input signal from the fraction generator(320) corresponding to the first coordinate position.
