A security yarn which is inconspicuous, prevents from being removed, can be attached to an article having a shape that conventionally refuses the attaching, and is expanded in range of applications, the yarn comprising; a core material consisting of a soft magnetic fiber (1) or a soft magnetic fiber and a wadding (4), and cover materials (2, 3) each consisting of a non-metallic material for convering the core material; a core material consisting of a soft magnetic fiber or a soft magnetic fiber and a wadding, and a semi-hard magnetic material (10) covered with a cover material; or a core material consisting of a soft magnetic fiber or a soft magnetic fiber and a wadding, and a fusion-deposition fiber (9) covered with a cover material.
