PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a two-pack type coating composition capable of forming a coating film having excellent hot-water resistance, weather resistance, stain resistance, solvent resistance, alkali resistance, etc., provide an aqueous emulsion of an organic-inorganic composite resin suitable for the coating composition and provide a process as a component of the production of the emulsion. SOLUTION: The process for the production of the objective aqueous emulsion of the organic-inorganic composite resin comprises the hydrolytic condensation reaction of a mixture of 100 pts.wt. of an organosilane of formula R1nSi(OR2)4-n and/or its partial hydrolytic condensation product and 5-200 pts.wt. of a vinyl resin containing silyl group having an acid group until 45-100% of the hydrolyzable group is reacted, the addition of a neutralizing agent and water to the obtained organic-inorganic composite resin solution, the stirring of the mixture, the addition of an amino-containing alkoxysilane compound to the obtained aqueous dispersion and the stirring of the product. The two-pack type coating composition is used by compounding the aqueous emulsion of the organic- inorganic composite resin with an alkoxysilane compound containing epoxy group.
