PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a facsimile terminal that can quickly restore a normal state to allow a user to take a proper action on the occurrence of a failure such as an open cover in an energy saving state. SOLUTION: The facsimile terminal in the normal state is set to an energy- saving state on the occurrence of a prescribed transition cause to the energy- saving state and set to the normal state when an opened cover is detected in the energy-saving state or an the occurrence of other prescribed restoration cause such as arrival of an incoming call. Thus, the facsimile terminal in the energy-saving state is restored to the normal state when detecting the opened cover, and provides an output of a warning denoting that the cover is open and inhibits facsimile reception and recording.
