PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preserving and/or transporting an immature ovum, useful as a method for efficiently supplying the immature ovum for giving birth to the child by in vitro fertilization or nuclear transplantation. SOLUTION: The subject method comprises preserving and/or transporting the immature ovum at room temperature in ambient atmosphere, wherein a culture medium containing a protein synthesis inhibitor, preferably cycloheximide, is used. The culture medium preferably contains the cycloheximide in an amount of 1-100μmg per ml of the medium.
