PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To move a tray carrying means in a shortest path between parking floors. SOLUTION: This mechanical parking device comprises a plurality of parking floors 11, 12 and 13 in which a plurality of parking divisions 14 are arranged in the horizontal direction, and a tray 15 for loading an automobile is provided, a hollow carrying passage 1 which is communicated between these parking floors, and formed along the arrangement direction in the parking divisions on each parking floor, a series of movable rails 2 which are elevated/lowered in the hollow carrying passage 1 and selectively arranged on each parking floor, a tray carrying stage 3 to be reciprocated on a series of movable rails 2, and a tray transfer mechanism 34 to move the tray between the carrying stage 3 and each parking division 14, and the carrying stage 3 is moved on the hollow carrying passage 1 in an arbitrary direction.
