The proposed method for transmitting and storing indications of an electric meter consists in transmitting the data for the meter indications via a modem to the host computer of the company that provides power supply of customers, storing the received data in the memory of the computer, and changing the stored data according to the consumed power. The proposed method provides the possibility to exclude visual reading of the indications of electric meters as well as simplify operations connected with accounting consumed power and calculating payment sums and debts of the consumers. As a result, there would be the possibility to reduce expenses in connection with accounting power, reduce power rates, increase the profits of power-supply companies, and enable the use of credit cards in payments for consumed power. According to the present invention, an electric meter with stored indications is also proposed.
