PURPOSE: To enlarge a commodity-containing space and to facilitate maintenance by providing a flat type fluorescent lamp in a showcase having a storage chamber constituted to display a commodity in a heat insulation wall. CONSTITUTION: The showcase is constituted to mount a mounting plate 34 on a front end of a top wall 2B of a heat insulation wall and to cover a front surface of the insulation wall a front surface of a discharge port 16 of the insulation wall from a top surface of the insulation wall with the plate 34. A recess 35 opened at the front surface of the plate 34 is formed at the front surface of the plate 34, and a flat type fluorescent lamp 35 is mounted in the recess 36. Since a width size of the lamp 35 is thin, the lamp can illuminate a front surface of the showcase without requiring a space for mounting the lamp. Thus, the width size of the plate 34 can be reduced forward from the cold air discharge port 16, and a storage chamber can be enlarged in association with the reduction in the width size. A mounting member is simplified to improve assembling operability and to reduce a cost.
