The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition, a food composition and a feed composition for preventing or treating peripheral neurodegenerative diseases, which contain, as an active ingredient, an inhibitor of expression or activity of at least one protein selected from the group consisting of cystathionine -lyase (CSE) and 3-mercaptopyruvate sulfurtransferase (MST). The inhibitor, by suppressing production of hydrogen sulfide (H_2S), suppresses myelin fragmentation, oval myelin formation, Schwann cell dedifferentiation and proliferation, and axonal degeneration, and can thus be beneficially used for preventing or treating peripheral neurodegenerative diseases. |
