PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress deterioration of an alignment film against light by forming the specified alignment film on a liquid crystal layer side surface of at least one substrate of a pair of substrates. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal device is constituted of a liquid crystal layer interposed between a pair of substrates opposedly disposed. And an alignment film having an absorbance of 0.3 or below in a range of 380-500 nm wavelength is formed on a liquid crystal layer side surface of at least one substrate of the pair of substrates. This alignment film is formed by laminating aliphatic polyamide and aromatic polyimide toward the surface of at least one substrate of the pair of substrates. As a graph shows, expressing result of an experiment about relation between the absorbance at 380 nm light wavelength and light resistant life (time/acceleration coefficient) of the alignment film, the life of the alignment film is suddenly increased according to reducing the absorbance from about 0.3 to below. It seems that the life is increased to such an extent because aπelectron conjugated system is reduced by utilizing the aliphatic polyamide and light stability of the alignment film is enhanced.
