PURPOSE: A control method is provided to return a striker escaping a normal transmission position to a neutral state by operation of an emergency neutral return switch during operating a gearshift device. CONSTITUTION: A driver operates an emergency neutral return switch if vehicle speed is not changed by a change lever(4L). An ECU(electronic control unit,8) recognizes the switch operation and decides through a position sensor(22) if speed is changed normally by a gearshift device(12). Speed change is finished at a normal position by the position sensor. The ECU controls a magnetic valve assembly(10) if a striker(32) of the gearshift device is not on the right position. The valve supplies air to cylinders(26,28) of the gear shift device repetitively in turns and then at the same time to apply impact to a shift rod(30). The ECU decides that the striker is returned to a neutral state when the striker on the neutral position is detected through the position sensor. If the striker is not on the right position, the ECU repeats the entire process. |
