The present invention relates to a chandelier which is produced by assembling elements with a modularised interface. This makes it possible to design the elements in different ways while assembling them according to requirements. The chandelier consists substantially of two or more modular elements (1, 2) provided with one or more outwardly projecting arms (9, 11) mounted with one or more holders (3, 14) for light fittings (8, 10). Each of modular element (1, 2) is composed of a hollow, tubular body (16, 17), the open ends of which are provided with complementarily designed modular connecting surfaces (12, 13). The modular elements (1, 2) are mounted round an elongated body (5) in a substantially vertical direction. The elongated body (5) is provided at its lower end with a lower end piece (18) on which the bottom modular element (2) rests and the elongated body (5) is provided at its upper end with a releasably mounted upper end piece (6).
