PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce noise by providing a mounting substrate that a circuit element is mounted at the intermediate part of a leg part provided at the outer periphery of the bottom surface of a container main body for closely sealing a crystal piece so as to small-size the outer shape of a flat surface. SOLUTION: Notch parts 18 are provided at the four corner parts of a mounting substrate 8 and circuit elements 3b based on an oscillation IC 3a and a temperature compensating element in particular of a thermistor, a capacitor, etc., are mounted on both main surfaces. The parts 18 are guided by the supports 16 of a surface mounting container 7 to connect the outer peripheral surface of the substrate 8 to the upper surface of the frame part 15 of the substrate 7. Consequently, the outer dimension of a discrete oscillator can be equalized to the outer shape of a container main body 9 as a crystal oscillator so that it is small-sized. Since both surfaces of the substrate 8 is used, a selecting width is increased without being restricted by the outer dimension of each circuit element such as the thermistor, the capacitor, etc., to expand the range of designing. In addition, since a discrete type is used, noise can be reduced.
