PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the stator of an electric rotating machine which can prevent the ventilation ducts of a stator core from deformation and avoid increase of pressure loss, when cooling gas is made to flow through the ventilation ducts and the manufacturing method of the stator. SOLUTION: The stator of an electric rotating machine has a stator core composed of a plurality of punched-out plates, which are punched out from thin steel plates and stacked and a plurality of ventilation ducts 1a which are formed in spaces formed partially in the piling direction of the punched-out plates by inserting spacers 2 between the piled punched-out plates. The thicknesses of the facing punched-out plates on the side facing the inside of the ventilation duct 1a are made larger than the thicknesses of other punched- out plates which are stacked directly.
