PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a reformed polymer support material for chromatography with high resolution by capping the liberated carboxyl group of the polymer support material with an average particle diameter in a specific range. SOLUTION: By capping the liberated carboxyl group of a polymer support material that is a crosslinking particle containing polyester structure, polyamide structure and/or polyimide structure with an inactive group, a reformed polymer support material for chromatography is obtained. The average particle diameter of the polymer support material is 1 to 50μm. Capping by the inactive group is made by esterification or formation of amide. Ester or amide being introduced into the liberated carboxyl group of the polymer support material is alkyl ester or alkyl amide with 18 or less carbons. Also, after the polymer support material is filled into a column, a reagent or its solution is fed to the column for capping.
