The race ring (1) has an inner jacket surface with a rolling surface (5) for roller bodies (4). An axial section of the ring next to its end is expanded in radial direction, so that a ring-shaped recess (12) is formed in the outer jacket surface of the ring. The ring is expanded by a hammer forming process. The recess contains axial reinforcing ribs.
