PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to refer to a necessary manual part immediately after confirming an error message by providing a correction assisting tool and displaying candidates for a necessary manual part to be referred to so as to correct the part causing the output of the error message. SOLUTION: A compiler 102 compiles a source 101. If there is an error, the compiler 102 outputs an error message 104. The correction assisting tool is actuated while being linked with the compiler 102, the error message 104 is inputted to the correction assisting tool 105, and retrieval from an error message number-manual part correspondence table is performed. The retrieval result is outputted as a manual part display picture 108 to a display device 107. The user views the manual part display picture 108, selects a part to be referred to in a manual 109, which can be displayed on the display device, out of candidates and displays it, and corrects the error while referring to it.
