PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new compound having heteroylthiazolyloxy(thio) methyl group as a substituent on the phenyl group, and useful as an active ingredient of pest controlling agents and antimycotic agents for medical use. SOLUTION: This new compound is a compound of formula I [R1 and R2 are each H, a halogen or 1-6C alkyl; X is O, S, SO or SO2; Y is a group of formula II, or the like; Het is a (Z-substituted) heterocyclic ring (Z is cyano, hydroxyl or the like)], e.g. methyl N-methoxy-N- 2-[4-(2-thiazolyl)thiazol-2- yloxymethyl]phenyl}carbamate. The compound of formula I is obtained, for example, when X is O or S, by reaction between a compound of formula III (L is an eliminable group such as Cl, Br or CH3) and a compound of formula IV (X' is O or S) in an inert solvent (e.g. N,N-dimethylformamide, acetonitrile) in the presence of a base (e.g. sodium hydride, potassium carbonate) at -50 to 150 deg.C for 1-48 h.
