PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a tool for easily dotting braille on paper shorter than the spacings between needles because the conventional small-sized braille device allows the easy dotting of braille on paper of a B5 size (182×257 mm), but in the case of the paper shorter than the spacings between the needles (hereafter described as the small-sized paper), for instance a name card size, the position of the paper is not fixed in the braille device and the inclining of the row of the lines of the dotted braille is resulted or the offsetting of the position where the braille is written by each of the paper is resulted and further, when a sight handicapped person tries to dot the braille on the small-sized paper, this person cannot recognize in what position in the braille device the small-sized paper exists. SOLUTION: A hinge part 11 is provided with notched parts 12 and 13 and the position in the vertical direction of the surface 16 of the notched part 13 is so determined that the extension line of the surface 16 comes into contact with the upper parts of the circles of the needles 9. The spacing 14 of the notched parts is made slightly larger than the longitudinal size 17 of the small-sized paper 40 which is an objective. Further, the front surface of the upper plate is provided with a projecting frame 41 for indicating the region where the braille can be dotted.
