<p>PURPOSE:To alternately and efficiently encode two kinds of moving images whose patterns are different by a frame unit at the time of multiplexing and encoding the two moving images, and to alternately and efficiently decode the two picture data according to a received encoded digital signal at the time of receiving and decoding the signal. CONSTITUTION:An encoder is equipped with two frame memories for the prediction signal of an encoding circuit, and the prediction signal is selected for each of two screens. And also, the device is equipped with an encoding timing generating circuit 5 which operates the control of an encoding parameter for each of the two screens. On the other hand, a decoding circuit 12 controls the writing of the two frame memories, and a predicted value for each of the two screens is generated and decoded. A two-screen multiplexing and shaping memory 14 alternately outputs the two screens by the frame unit. A decoding timing generating circuit 13 generates a timing signal for selecting the two screens.</p> |
