PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic disk device which is mounted with a magnetic continuous servo technique of high accuracy, is inexpensive and may be easily produced. SOLUTION: The magnetic disk 1 of the magnetic disk device 100 provided with the magnetic disk 1 having magnetic recording layers to be subjected to recording and reproducing of information and a magnetic head formed with a magnetic recording element and magnetic reproducing element on a head slider 10 moving relatively on the disk has plural recording tracks which are disposed adjacently in the radial direction of the disk and servo patterns which are formed at specified periods in the longitudinal direction of the recording tracks and have the length approximately half these periods. The servo patterns are so formed as to be opposite phase with each other on the outer peripheral side and inner peripheral side of the magnetic disk. A pair of tracking signals are obtained from the servo patterns on the outer peripheral side and the inner peripheral side.
