PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inform a caller that a sound message is reproduced by a user by permitting a controller to start a recognition message to the caller based on reproduction of the sound message of the caller, which is stored in a sound memory by an automatic caller calling back module. SOLUTION: The automatic answering telephone system 10 contains an automatic caller call back module 26. The automatic caller call back module 26 controls the automatic answering telephone system 10, off-hooks a telephone line interface 17, calls an associated telephone number and reproduces a recognition message. The recognition message can immediately be reproduced based on the response of a call back call, or the detection of a silence period after sound is detected. The automatic caller call back module 26 causes a controller 24 to start the recognition message to the caller based on the reproduction of the sound message of the caller, which is stored in the sound message memory 21.
