PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To evaluate the dross sticking resistance of a material by dipping a test piece whose testing surface is composed of the material used in metal bath into metal bath melting dross source and rotating for a specific time. SOLUTION: The testing surface is formed from plural materials and the dross source added into the bath component is desirable to be a single body and/or a composite body having two or more kinds of metal elements. In the case of galvanizing a steel sheet, the bath is molten zinc and the dross source is suitable to be the single body of Al and Fe and/or the composite body of (Al-Fe alloy). The testing instrument is provided with a vessel 3 forming the bath 2 by holding the molten metal, a rotation-driving means provided with a rotating shaft 4B for holding the test piece 1 dipped into the bath 2 and a motor 4A for driving the rotation and a dross supplying means composed of wire feeders 5A, 5B for supplying the dross source into the bath 2. The test piece 1 is dipped into the bath 2 and rotated to execute the evaluation of the dross sticking resistance with the area ratio of the position where the dross sticking material remains.
