PURPOSE: A decoder of a cable modem is provided to design a decoder adapted to a spec when decoding download data. CONSTITUTION: A decoder of a cable modem comprises multiplexers(300,310), a multitude of adder(401-432), and a comparison and selection portions(501-516). The multiplexers provide selectively branch matrix values of I or Q signals to the adders by control signals. The adders receive and add the branch matrix values and the output from the multiplexers to a previous pass matrix values. The comparison and selection portions provide one value of the output values from the adders as an input value of a survival memory and the previous pass matrix values of the adders.
