PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a facsimile equipment whose control can be revised depending on whether or not a telephone set 4 connecting to a connection terminal 38 has provision for the number display service. SOLUTION: A telephone line carrying a signal connects to a connection terminal 38 and when a telephone set 4 replies primarily connecting to the connection terminal 38 within a prescribed time (e.g. 6 sec) when detecting an information reception terminal start signal, it is decided that the telephone set 4 connecting to the connection terminal 38 is a telephone set having provision for the number display service. Furthermore, when detecting the information reception terminal star signal and the telephone set 4 connecting to the connection terminal 38 does not make a primary reply within a prescribed time (e.g. 6 sec), the telephone set 4 connecting to the connection terminal 38 is decided to be a telephone set having no provision for the number display service.
