Disclosed is a flat thermal protection element consisting of a support having a first surface that is coated with a layer and a second surface that is coated with a second layer. The first layer reflects up to 60 % and preferably 70 % solar radiation in the 0.25-2.5 mu m wavelength range and has an emission level of over 80 % and preferably at least more than 70 % in the 2.5-100 mu m, preferably at least 5-50 mu m, thermal infra-red wavelength range. The second layer has an emission level of less than 0.8 and preferably less than 0.7 for the 2.5-50 mu m, preferably at least 5-25 mu m, thermal infra-red wavelength range. |
