PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To aim at the mechanical ventilation of a lacked quantity of ventilation by operating a ventilating equipment only in the case where lack of ventilation due to the traffic condition is discriminated by computing the required quantity of ventilation on the basis of the traffic quantity inside of a tunnel, and computing the wind speed on the basis of the mean car speed, and multiplying the cross section of a tunnel. SOLUTION: Tunnel-inside wind speed to be generated by the traveling of vehicles is decided on the basis of the number of vehicles traveling in the tunnel and the mean car speed thereof, and obtained by formulation. Furthermore, the obtained tunnel-inside wind speed due to the traffic is multiplied with the cross section of the tunnel so as to obtain the quantity of ventilation by the only traffic ventilating capacity. A discrimination whether the quantity of ventilation is enough or not with the only traffic ventilating capacity is performed by comparing the required quantity of ventilation with the quantity of ventilation by the traffic ventilating capacity inside of a tunnel. Consequently, on the basis of a result of this discrimination, a ventilating equipment is operated by the quantity of ventilation corresponding to the tunnel ventilating method in the only case where the quantity of ventilation by the traffic ventilating capacity is not enough. With this structure, the optimal tunnel ventilation considering the traffic ventilating capacity to be changed every hour is realized.
