PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machine tool equipped with two tool spindle heads suitable for a transfer machine and movable in the independently orthogonal triaxial directions. SOLUTION: In this machine tool comprising two tool spindle heads, a pair of columns 3, 4 is movable on a common guide surface in the approaching and separating direction to and from one another, a pair of rotary tool spindles 32, 32' is movably guided in the second direction and the third direction orthogonal to the first direction as the moving direction of the columns, on an inner surface where the columns 3, 4 are opposite to one another, the pair of tool spindles 32, 32' is movable in the independently orthogonal triaxial directions with respect to a common work table 40, the upper and lower covers on the front surfaces of the columns 3, 4 are kept in a stretched state at all times by the upper and lower winders in accompany with the vertical movement of the tool spindles, and a take-up cover 60 is expanded and contracted by a winder 61 in accompany with the relative movement of both columns 3, 4 to keep its stretched state at all times.
