PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer capable of saving the energy, and a power controlling method thereof. SOLUTION: A power source supply controlling part for supplying a power amount corresponding to a power mode selected from many stages of power modes including a power saving mode, and a power source off mode for blocking the power supply to a printing engine from a power source supply device 14 to the printing engine, and a controlling part for controlling the power mode setting 12a of the printing engine 20 and the power source supply controlling part 15 for printing an image corresponding to the received printing data on a paper as well as controlling the power source supply controlling part so as to switch to the power saving mode in the case printing data are not received from the outside for a set first time period or more in the print waiting mode, or controlling the power source supply controlling part so as to switch to the power-off mode in the case printing data are not received from the outside for a set second time period or more in the power saving mode, are provided. |
