The pressure ventilation is for zones in a building designated for emergency exits and escape routes, such as the stairway (100) in a multi-story building (10). At least one fire lock (20) is between the secured zone (100) and the remainder (22) of the building (10) with access doors (24,26) on either side. An overflow opening (32) is next to the door (24) at each lock (20) to the secured zone (100) and gives a fluid flow connection between the zone (100) and lock (20). At least one fan (30) delivers a given fluid flow vol. through the secured zone (100).
