<p>A mold clamping device (1) for injection molding machines which comprises an electric type mold opening and closing mechanism, a hydraulic type mold clamping mechanism, and a mold thickness adjusting device, the mold thickness adjusting device comprising a first detector (70) for detecting the position of a mold clamping ram (51), a second detector (80) for optically detecting the position of a half-nut device (20), and a mold clamping ram position control device (90) for hydraulically holding and controlling the mold clamping ram (51) at the mold thickness adjusting position. The position of the half-nut device (20) is held at the mold thickness adjusting position during the mold opening and closing operation by hydraulic control. And in the initial period of mold opening operation, the high mold opening force exerted by the mold clamping ram (51) can be utilized to opening the mold.</p> |
