PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a traverse guide for winding a fiber bundle capable of winding up a fiber bundle of e.g. glass fiber without causing any twisted portions in the bundle for resultantly forming a package. SOLUTION: This traverse guide 20 for winding up a fiber bundle 14 comprises; a slit 24 for allowing the bundle 14 to pass therethrough; a constrainer plane 26 for constraining the bundle 14 having gotten through the slit 24; and a space section 25 formed between the slit 24 and the constraining plane 26 for allowing the bundle 14 to twist at an angle of about 90 degrees without any constraint. In the space section 25, an unequal force tending to disarrange the alignment of filaments forming the bundle 14 is absorbed because each filament itself moves in a proper manner within the space section 25. Hence, the bundle 14 is wound up around a package P while remaining in a flat state independent of any disarrangements, twists or the like in the alignment of the filaments.
