PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To screen a therapeutic agent or a prophylatic for central nervous system diseases, e.g. Alzheimer's disease and the like, by assaying the inhibitory effect of a test substance on the expression of the splicing variant transcribed from presenilin-2 gene. SOLUTION: A therapeutic drug or agent a prophylatic for central nervous system diseases, e.g. Alzheimer's disease and the like, is screened by assaying the inhibitory effect of a test substance on the expression of the splicing variant transcribed from presenilin-2 gene. Further, the expression of the splicing variant is the expression of the variant in nervous cells, the expression of the variant derived by loading the oxidation stress to the nervous cells and the expression of the variant in the brain tissue of animals and the splicing variant is the variant or the like not containing the exon 5 or the exons 5 and 8 in the presenilin-2 gene, the variant not containing the exon 3 or the exons 3 and 4 in the presenilin-2 gene. |
