PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seat for a vehicle wherein freedom of design is high and an upper part back can be automatically actuated and can be adjusted to an arbitrary slope even by a driving machine with a small output. SOLUTION: A back 6 of a seat for a vehicle is provided with a lower part back 8, an upper part back 11, a driving machine 12 and a transmitting mechanism 17. The lower back 8 is fitted on a seat frame and the upper back 11 is supported on the lower back 8 by means of the second frame 9. The driving machine 12 has a movable part 13 and a driving part 14 for moving back and forth the movable part 13 in accordance with switch operation and stopping it at a specified position and is fitted on the lower part back 8 at the driving part 14. The transmitting mechanism 17 rotates the upper part back 11 in the back and forth direction by using the second shaft 9 as a support point by enlarging the force of the movable part 13 based on the driving part 14 and transmitting the upper part back 11.
