摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To neatly align and hold optical fibers along the optical fiber arraying grooves of an optical fiber arranging implement. SOLUTION: This optical fiber retaining mechanism is provided with the optical fiber arranging implement 10 formed with a V-groove 9 on its front surface, a fiber clamp 3a for retaining the front end side of the optical fiber 13b arranged in the V-groove, a fiber clamp 3b for retaining the optical fiber 13b in the position parted from the fiber clamp 3b via a spacing in the longitudinal direction of the optical fiber, a fiber clamp 3c for retaining the front end side of the optical fiber 13a and a fiber clamp 3d for retaining the optical fiber 13a in the position parted from the fiber clamp 3c via a spacing in the longitudinal direction of the optical fiber. The optical fiber retaining surfaces 5 of the fiber clamps 3a to 3d are formed to a projecting curved surface shape. The optical fibers 13a, 13b are respectively retained at two points in a longitudinal direction by the fiber clamps 3a to 3d, by which the optical fibers 13a, 13b are surely retained. The failure of the optical fibers 13 is prevented by forming the optical fiber retaining surfaces 5 as curved surfaces.
